about FPR
Renfrewshire Arts’ FPR Community Radio is one of the country’s leading and most successful community radio stations, with a wealth of experience in broadcasting. An investment in the very latest in broadcast technology takes FPR to the cutting edge, mirroring that of any major Scottish radio station.
FPR Community Radio is active 52 weeks a year, offering training and running projects in local communities as well as broadcasting for two months of the year during summer and winter, entertaining twenty four hours a day, seven days a week. A variety of presenters guarantees a great programming mix; from Beatles to Bhangra, blues to jazz, special guests, competitions, chat and community news and views.
FPR is constantly on the lookout for new broadcasting talent and fresh programme ideas. During our Summer and Winter broadcasts we are on air 24 / 7 and that’s a lot of air time to fill with top quality programmes. We want Elvis to ecology, jazz to jive, fishing to football, cooking to card games, Blair to Beckham. If you have an idea for your own programme we want to hear from you. You can either come to the FPR studio to record your programme or we can come to you.
From its early days of just six volunteers, FPR has now expanded to a team of over 50 volunteers, managed and trained by two professionals in the field of broadcasting. FPR now offers local informal training opportunities and has close links to the NC Radio Broadcasting course offered by Reid Kerr College. This partnership offers a seamless path from broadcasting for fun to gaining a nationally recognised qualification.
